The role:
As Associate Director – Electrical Engineering, responsibilities will include:
- Leading electrical engineering delivery across multiple large-scale AI and mission-critical projects
- Acting as executive client lead on key accounts, building long-term relationships and repeat business
- Overseeing design of HV/LV power systems, UPS, standby generation, earthing, lighting, fire alarm, and resilience strategies
- Managing programme performance, commercial outcomes, resource planning, and technical risk
- Directing multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants through all project stages
- Driving QA processes, engineering governance, and design excellence standards
- Supporting bids, proposals, fee negotiations, and business development activity
- Mentoring senior engineers, Principals, and future leaders within the business
- Identifying innovation opportunities in energy resilience, sustainability, and AI-ready infrastructure
Technical requirements:
- Strong background in electrical building services design within data centres, critical environments, or major infrastructure
- Deep knowledge of BS, CIBSE, IEC, EN, and UK regulatory frameworks
- Strong understanding of mission-critical resilience philosophy, uptime requirements, and commissioning strategy
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, fees, and project profitability
- Familiarity with tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, ETAP, Amtech, Dialux, Bluebeam preferred
Ideal profile:
- 12+ years’ experience in electrical engineering / building services consultancy
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered status (IET / CIBSE / equivalent) strongly preferred
- Proven experience leading major MEP or mission-critical programmes from concept to handover
- Track record managing teams, developing talent, and leading client relationships
- Prior experience in data centres, hyperscale, or AI-focused facilities highly advantageous
- Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in helping grow a specialist consultancy
