Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker looking for a rewarding long-term role in a welcoming primary school?

We are recruiting for a caring, resilient and proactive SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a fantastic primary school in Longwell Green. This is an exciting opportunity to support two pupils on a long-term basis, working alongside an experienced full-time member of staff.

The role will initially be three days per week (Wednesday to Friday), although the school is open to increasing this to a full-time position for the right candidate.

The Role

You will provide dedicated support for two pupils in Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2:

  • A Year 2 pupil who is academically capable and highly sociable but can display avoidant behaviours and is reluctant to accept support.
  • A Year 3 pupil who enjoys maths, requires additional support with English, and would benefit from emotional and social support, particularly during unstructured times such as break and lunchtime. This pupil has a history of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Working closely with school staff, you'll help the children remain engaged in learning, build positive relationships, develop emotional regulation strategies and experience success both academically and socially.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may be reluctant to engage.
  • Has excellent spoken and written English.
  • Is calm, patient and consistent in their approach.
  • Understands strategies such as relationship-based practice, emotional regulation support and structured routines.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team alongside teaching and support staff.

What Makes This School Special?

This is a genuinely lovely primary school with a warm, supportive and inclusive culture. Staff are highly valued, teamwork is at the heart of everything they do, and visitors consistently comment on the positive atmosphere throughout the school.
