Secondary English Teacher

Location: Macclesfield
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: April 2026

Love teaching English but ready for a school that actually gives you the time and trust to do it properly?

We’re working with a well-regarded secondary school in Macclesfield that’s looking for a passionate and confident English Teacher to join their team this September. It’s the kind of place where behaviour is strong, leadership is supportive, and the English department genuinely works together, not in silos.

If you’re someone who can bring Macbeth to life, make persuasive writing punchy, and get even the reluctant readers leaning in, you’ll feel right at home here.

What you’ll be doing

  • Teaching English across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 available for the right person

  • Planning engaging lessons that build confidence as well as grades

  • Supporting students of all abilities, including those who need a little extra encouragement

  • Working collaboratively with a settled and supportive department

  • Contributing to wider school life, whether that’s clubs, trips, or enrichment

What the school offers

  • A strong, visible SLT who back their staff

  • Well-established schemes of work, no reinventing the wheel

  • High expectations with a calm and respectful culture

  • Opportunities to develop, whether you’re early in your career or looking to step up

What we’re looking for

  • UK QTS

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Strong classroom presence and behaviour management

  • A love of literature and language that students can feel

Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply. Your first role doesn’t have to be a leap in the dark. This school offers structured support, mentoring, and the space to grow into your teaching style with confidence.
