About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Mansfield. The successful candidate will be passionate about bringing history to life, inspiring students to develop a deeper understanding of the past, and fostering critical thinking, analytical, and research skills.
This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to develop their career within a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is desirable).
- Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity and academic achievement.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and effective classroom management.
- Encourage students to develop critical thinking, source analysis, and independent learning skills.
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations.
- Contribute to the development of the History curriculum and departmental initiatives.
- Support enrichment activities, educational visits, and extracurricular programmes where appropriate.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Degree in History or a related subject.
- Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the History curriculum.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Previous teaching experience is desirable; ECTs are encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
