Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Specialist Secure Provision

Protocol Education is working with a secure children’s unit in Morpeth to recruit an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

You'll become an important part of the education team, supporting young people who may have complex social, emotional and behavioural needs and who may have experienced significant disruption to their education.

Your Responsibilities

As an HLTA, you will:

• Support teaching and learning across the provision
• Lead learning activities when required
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support
• Adapt activities to individual needs
• Encourage positive engagement with education
• Support behaviour and emotional regulation
• Promote independence and confidence
• Maintain a safe and structured environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
• Contribute to monitoring and reviewing pupil progress

Experience We'd Like to See

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience of:

SEMH | Challenging Behaviour | SEND | PRU | Alternative Provision | Youth Work | Residential Care | Secure Settings

You'll need to demonstrate a mature, consistent and professional approach and be comfortable working with young people who may present challenging behaviour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
