Role Summary
One of the UK's leading providers of biodiversity and ecology consultancy to the built environment and construction world is looking to expand their growing team with an Ecologist based in the North East of England to cover a number of works they have recently won.
Based from a beautiful office location in Newcastle upon Tyne with flexible working and site based travel.
You will get to work with a range of national clients (including major retailers, housebuilders, utilities providers and major charities) to enhance nature and biodiversity.
As an Ecologist you will get involved in:
- Undertaking field survey work for a range of ecological projects including; Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, a range of protected species surveys and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
- Production of technical reports, survey documentation and mitigation strategies
- Supporting senior colleagues with the production of Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations Assessments and Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans
- Liaising with clients, contractors and project teams with confidence when required
- Assisting with project management, including working to deadlines and project finance
- Maintaining accurate field data and ensuring high standards of quality and attention to detail.
We are seeking a motivated Ecologist with:
- A minimum of 2 years UK Experience
- A degree in Ecology (or related subject). An additional higher degree would be an advantage.
- Member of CIEEM
- Knowledge of wildlife legislation including planning processes and/or EIA/HRA assessments and undertaking surveys.
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of applying relevant guidance for surveys.
- Experience in report writing skills, displaying good standards with attention to detail and ability to write accurate and concise reports
- Knowledge of the processes involved in undertaking a range of ecology reports
- Experience in field surveys including Phase 1 habitat survey, UK Habitat assessment, BNG condition assessment and protected species surveys.
- Willingness to travel to sites a required and be able to work independently
Salary/ Benefits
Between £26,000 - £34,000 dependant on experience plus package including;
