The Role

As an English Graduate, you may work as a:

  • English Learning Support Assistant
  • Literacy Intervention Assistant
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Academic Mentor
  • SEND Teaching Assistant
  • Inclusion Support Assistant
  • Reading Support Mentor

You'll gain invaluable experience by:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Delivering literacy and reading intervention sessions.
  • Helping students improve their reading, writing and communication skills.
  • Supporting pupils who require additional assistance to access the curriculum.
  • Encouraging confidence and engagement in English lessons.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
  • Working closely with English departments, SEND teams and pastoral staff.
  • Helping students develop the skills they need to succeed across all subjects.

We're Looking For

  • A degree in English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing or a related subject.
  • A genuine passion for education and literacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A positive, patient and adaptable approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly.
  • A commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
