A specialist SEND school in Newcastle is seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team and support pupils with a range of physical, medical and additional needs.

You'll gain valuable experience supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning, while developing your knowledge of specialist equipment, assistive technology and accessible education.

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and small-group support.
  • Support pupils with physical and medical needs.
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet individual requirements.
  • Assist pupils with specialist technology and communication systems.
  • Prepare and safely use specialist equipment.
  • Support access to lessons and the wider curriculum.
  • Promote independence and confidence.
  • Work alongside teachers and other professionals.
  • Provide feedback on pupil progress and engagement.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety procedures.

You'll Need

  • Level 3 TA qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience within a SEND, education or care environment.
  • Understanding of physical and/or medical needs.
  • Good ICT skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A calm, patient and flexible approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a specialist team.
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential.
