Psychology Graduate? Start your career by making a difference.

If you’ve spent three years studying human behaviour, development and mental wellbeing, why not put that knowledge into practice?

Protocol Education is looking for enthusiastic Psychology Graduates to join SEN schools across Gateshead as Teaching Assistants from September 2026.

You don’t need years of classroom experience. What matters most is your ability to build relationships, remain patient and genuinely want to help children succeed.

Position Details

  • Location: SEN schools across Gateshead and Newcastle
  • Start: September 2026
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, full-time
  • Pay: £92.63-£98 per day
  • Position: Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

What Your Day Could Look Like

No two days will necessarily be the same.

You might spend the morning supporting a pupil 1:1, help deliver an intervention before lunch and then work alongside the teacher during an afternoon lesson.

You’ll help pupils with:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Behaviour and social development
  • Communication
  • Classroom routines
  • Confidence and independence
  • Accessing their education

You may also support children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other SEND needs.

What You'll Gain

This is more than classroom experience. You’ll develop a much deeper understanding of how children learn, communicate and respond to different environments.

It could be an ideal stepping stone towards:

  • Educational Psychology
  • Teaching
  • Clinical or Child Psychology
  • Counselling
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Social Work

What We Need From You

  • Psychology or related degree
  • Genuine interest in supporting children
  • Compassionate and patient personality
