We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced SEND Tutor / Mentor & Learning Support Specialist to join our educational team. In this dual role, you will design and deliver objective-based, highly engaging learning plans tailored to individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

You will work closely with learners to boost confidence, improve educational outcomes, and overcome barriers to learning through active, person-cantered teaching and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

    Targeted Teaching & Support: Plan and deliver interactive, objective-based learning sessions tailored to individual learning styles, abilities, and SEND requirements.

    Active Engagement: Utilize creative, active-learning techniques to foster high levels of engagement, motivation, and independence in learners.

    Goal Setting & Tracking: Set clear, measurable educational goals and maintain accurate progress logs, learning plans, and session feedback.

    Mentorship & Wellbeing: Build strong, supportive relationships with learners, acting as a trusted mentor to support their social, emotional, and personal development.

    Collaborative Working: Communicate regularly with internal team members, parents/carers, and local authority or support networks to ensure holistic care and progress.

    Behaviour Management: Apply positive behaviour support strategies to manage challenging behaviour and create a safe, encouraging learning environment.

Person Specification & Requirements

Essential (Required):

    SEND Experience: Proven track record of planning and delivering educational or mentoring support to learners with SEND (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD).

    Active Learning Approach: Demonstrated ability to create structured, objective-driven lessons using active engagement techniques.

    Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the empathy and patience required to connect with diverse learners.

    Self-Motivated & Organized: Strong organizational skills to manage student tracking, documentation, and tailored session plans independently.

    Compliance: Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices.

Desirable (Advantageous):

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Level 5 Education and Training).

    Relevant specialized training in SEND strategies (e.g., Autism Awareness, De-escalation strategies, Trauma-Informed practice).
