Pay: £98–£120 per day, depending on experience

Protocol Education are recruiting for 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils within schools across the Peterlee area.
These opportunities could be based within primary or secondary settings, so we're interested in hearing from candidates who have experience with different age groups.
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you'll become an important part of a pupil's school day, providing the consistency, encouragement and individual support they need to access education.
Your role could involve:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support
- Supporting pupils to access lessons
- Helping pupils understand instructions
- Breaking down learning into manageable steps
- Supporting communication
- Encouraging positive behaviour
- Helping pupils manage emotions
- Supporting social interaction
- Encouraging independence
- Helping pupils develop confidence
- Supporting transitions around school
- Working alongside the class or subject teacher
- Sharing observations and progress with the wider team
Depending on the pupil, you may be supporting needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, communication needs or other SEND.
We're looking for someone who is patient and consistent and who can build a strong professional relationship with their pupil.
Previous 1:1 or SEND experience is desirable, but transferable experience from care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or childcare will also be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
