About the Role
Redbridge Secondary School is seeking a confident, proactive, and professional Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and maintaining high standards of learning in the classroom.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain engaged with pre-planned work while maintaining a positive and productive learning environment. This role requires strong behaviour management skills, resilience, and the ability to think on your feet.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subject areas.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with the school's behaviour policy.
- Maintain a calm, focused, and purposeful learning environment.
- Encourage students to complete set work and achieve their learning objectives.
- Respond appropriately to classroom situations using initiative and sound judgement.
- Support students in developing positive attitudes towards learning and behaviour.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement and conduct.
- Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Excellent behaviour management skills and confidence leading groups of students.
- The ability to establish positive relationships quickly and command respect within the classroom.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The confidence to work independently and use initiative when managing classroom situations.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to working across different subjects and year groups.
- Experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or youth work setting is desirable.
- A commitment to promoting high expectations of behaviour, attendance, and achievement.
