Salary: £79,000 + £6,325 car allowance

With a strong project pipeline and continued investment in engineering excellence, they are looking to strengthen their leadership team with the appointment of a Engineering Manager.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Engineering Manager will lead the engineering function across nominated projects, ensuring technical excellence from bid stage through to construction, commissioning and handover.

This role will provide leadership to engineering and design teams while acting as the key interface between project delivery teams, clients, consultants and supply chain partners. You will play a critical role in ensuring engineering processes, design assurance and compliance requirements are met throughout project delivery.

The successful candidate will also support work-winning activities, promote innovation and value engineering solutions, and contribute to the development of engineering capability across the business.

The key responsibilities for this Engineering Manager role are:

  • Lead the engineering function across assigned projects and sectors
  • Manage and develop engineering, design and technical teams
  • Ensure engineering processes and procedures are implemented and maintained
  • Provide design, construction, commissioning and handover assurance
  • Undertake duties associated with the CDM Principal Designer role
  • Support bid submissions and technical proposals
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams and clients
  • Manage Design Managers and engineering resources across projects
  • Ensure engineering activities align with client requirements, standards and best practice
  • Promote innovation, value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive collaboration between engineering, construction and supply chain teams
  • Support recruitment, training and professional development of engineering personnel
  • Maintain relationships with clients, consultants and external stakeholders
  • Champion safety, quality, environmental and sustainability standards within engineering functions

Experience required for this Engineering Manager role are:

  • Degree qualified in an infrastructure engineering discipline
  • Incorporated Engineer status in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline
  • Minimum three years' experience in a similar engineering leadership role
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor
  • Strong construction and design management experience
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Understanding of construction contracts and contractual requirements
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and Principal Designer duties
  • Ability to provide technical leadership across project delivery and work-winning activities
  • Ability to deputise for the Manager when required

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Engineering Manager role are:

  • Experience working within the nuclear sector
  • Knowledge of NEC4 contracts
  • Familiarity with client engineering policies and procedures
  • Understanding of gated project delivery processes
  • Knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions
  • Experience contributing to collaborative project delivery models such as Project 13
  • Professional development and mentoring experience
