About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a General Foreman to take overall responsibility for the delivery and performance of a small or medium-sized project site team.

Reporting to the Works Manager or Project Manager, you will lead site supervision teams, coordinate site activities, and work closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and in line with project requirements.

This role also plays a key part in maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental performance while supporting project planning, site operations and workforce management.

The key responsibilities for this General Foreman role are:

• Supervise the delivery and performance of a project site team.

• Manage the ordering, delivery, storage and maintenance of materials, plant and equipment.

• Support the Project Manager in delivering client-directed changes to works.

• Direct, coach and support site teams and subcontractors to achieve project requirements and production targets.

• Collaborate with site management teams to develop work programmes and method statements.

• Lead regular site inspections to ensure works are completed safely and correctly.

• Monitor compliance with codes of practice, risk assessments and method statements.

• Produce inspection reports and monitor completion of corrective actions.

• Ensure all site personnel receive appropriate safety briefings and task briefings.

• Support the development and implementation of project management systems and plans.

• Monitor and report on health and safety performance and project risks.

• Manage the close-out of close calls, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.

• Lead investigations into accidents and incidents when required.

• Attend and contribute to regular project meetings.

• Assist with maintaining, auditing and updating management plans.

• Utilise and maintain project documentation within document control systems.

• Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities.

Experience required for this General Foreman role are:

• Experience supervising site teams within construction or infrastructure projects.

• Experience coordinating site activities, materials, plant and equipment.

• Experience leading site inspections and monitoring site safety performance.

• Understanding of safe systems of work, method statements and risk assessments.

• Experience working collaboratively with project teams and subcontractors.

• Ability to monitor site performance and report findings to management.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this General Foreman role are:

• Knowledge of contractor responsibilities under CDM Regulations.

• Knowledge of the CSCS Card system.

• Experience using company management and document control systems.

• Understanding of contract and company procedures.

• Experience working within collaborative project environments.
