About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Site Engineer to support the management and coordination of works within a designated area of a project.
Working closely with the Works Manager, site teams, designers, subcontractors and suppliers, you will take responsibility for planning, coordinating and monitoring project activities while ensuring compliance with project, company and legal requirements.
The role also includes the management of junior engineering staff, supporting programme delivery, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance across your area of responsibility.
The key responsibilities for this Senior Site Engineer role are:
- Manage and coordinate works within your area of responsibility.
- Supervise and support junior engineering staff and manage workloads.
- Plan and coordinate subcontractor and third-party works alongside site supervision teams.
- Produce and maintain detailed three-week look-ahead programmes.
- Monitor progress against programme and report on variances and recovery actions.
- Identify, procure and manage materials required for planned works.
- Monitor material usage and report on wastage and improvement opportunities.
- Maintain records of subcontractor activities, scope changes and delays.
- Raise and manage technical queries relating to design information.
- Ensure permits, inductions, task briefs and required documentation are in place before works commence.
- Produce and manage Inspection and Test Plans for direct and subcontracted works.
- Maintain project records, progress updates and resource information.
- Produce Non-Conformance Reports and coordinate remedial actions where required.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with current designs and project specifications.
- Support the implementation and compliance of approved temporary works solutions.
- Upload and maintain project documentation within document control systems.
- Contribute to project reporting requirements.
- Promote compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
Experience required for this Senior Site Engineer role are:
- Good knowledge of construction industry practices and standard construction techniques.
- In-depth technical knowledge within the area of responsibility.
- Experience coordinating construction activities and site operations.
- Experience managing or supporting junior engineering staff.
- Ability to monitor and report programme performance.
- Ability to maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Understanding of project specifications and quality requirements.
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior Site Engineer role are:
- Good knowledge of wider project activities outside of own area of responsibility.
- Basic understanding of commercial and contractual requirements.
- Working knowledge of subcontractor scopes of work.
- Experience contributing to temporary works solutions and implementation.
