About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator to support the planning, coordination and management of temporary works schemes across construction projects.

Reporting to the Engineering / Design Manager, you will work closely with temporary works and permanent works designers, BIM and CAD teams, consultants, suppliers and project teams to ensure temporary works are designed, coordinated, implemented and managed in accordance with company procedures and BS5975 requirements.

The role also includes oversight of temporary works processes on site, management of designers, inspection of temporary works installations and support for training and development across project teams.

The key responsibilities for this Temporary Works Coordinator role are:

  • Coordinate temporary works schemes with permanent underground and above-ground works.
  • Review and prepare temporary works design briefs and supporting documentation.
  • Assess temporary works design briefs prepared by others to ensure suitability for site conditions and permanent works requirements.
  • Manage internal and external temporary works designers
  • Coordinate temporary works requirements with permanent works designers.
  • Advise on temporary works loads and actions affecting permanent works designs.
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with temporary works procedures.
  • Inspect temporary works installations and authorise works for use.
  • Issue required permits relating to temporary works activities.
  • Maintain site temporary works procedures in line with company requirements.
  • Support and oversee Temporary Works Supervisors in implementing temporary works procedures.
  • Ensure designs consider health and safety, quality, environmental and sustainability requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, project requirements and internal procedures.
  • Deliver training and development on design and temporary works procedures.
  • Review and communicate updates to relevant industry standards and guidance.
  • Maintain technical memberships and subscriptions and share industry best practice across the business.

Experience required for this Temporary Works Coordinator role are:

  • Engineering qualification at HNC, HND, BEng or higher level.
  • Previous experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator, Temporary Works Designer or Temporary Works Supervisor.
  • Minimum 10 years post-graduation civil engineering design experience.
  • Experience using BS5975.
  • Competent user of relevant design and CAD software.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Temporary Works Coordinator role are:

  • Knowledge of Principal Contractor and Principal Designer duties under CDM regulations.
  • Experience coordinating temporary works with permanent works design teams.
  • Awareness of relevant industry standards and guidance, including those relating to Network Rail, Highways, National Grid and the British Tunnelling Society.
  • Experience supporting training and development of project teams.
