Senior Quantity Surveyor – Residential Housebuilder
Location: Shropshire
Salary: Up to £65,000 (Negotiable) + Package (Bonus, Car Allowance, Pension)
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing residential housebuilding business delivering high-quality bespoke developments across Shropshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to take commercial responsibility for multiple residential developments from procurement through to final account. You'll work closely with senior management, playing a key role in protecting profitability, controlling costs, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Management
- Manage the commercial performance of multiple residential developments
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget while protecting margins
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Procure subcontractor packages and negotiate favourable terms
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
Cost Management & Reporting
- Produce CVRs, cash flow forecasts, and monthly commercial reports
- Manage subcontractor valuations, variations, payments, and final accounts
- Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities
Pre-Construction Support
- Assist with budgets, feasibility studies, and cost planning for future developments
- Support land appraisals and new project pricing where required
Contract Administration
- Administer JCT contracts and ensure commercial compliance throughout project delivery
- Resolve commercial issues and support final account negotiations
Collaboration
- Work closely with site teams, technical, land, and senior management to ensure successful project delivery
- Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team where appropriate
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within residential housebuilding
- Strong understanding of CVRs, cost reporting, forecasting, and commercial management
- Experience procuring subcontract packages and managing subcontract accounts
- Good knowledge of JCT contracts
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organisational skills
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent industry experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
