The Opportunity - Telecoms Technical Lead

Connectivity is fundamental to every modern Data Centre.

As hyperscale facilities expand and AI-driven infrastructure increases the demand for capacity, the telecoms and communications infrastructure supporting these environments becomes increasingly sophisticated. Structured cabling, connectivity, carrier interfaces, network infrastructure and the coordination of telecoms systems with the wider facility all need to be considered within an extremely demanding technical and delivery environment.

We are supporting a global consultancy with an expanding Data Centre portfolio across APAC, looking to appoint a Telecoms Technical Lead in Singapore.

Typical Responsibilities - Telecoms Technical Lead 

• Lead telecoms technical discussions across complex Data Centre projects and packages.
• Review telecoms designs, specifications, drawings and technical submissions.
• Assess proposed technical solutions and identify risks or opportunities for improvement.
• Lead coordination of telecoms systems with architectural, structural, civil, MEP and other disciplines.
• Coordinate telecoms consultants, contractors, vendors and specialist suppliers.
• Manage technical interfaces between telecoms infrastructure and wider Data Centre systems.
• Identify and resolve design coordination and technical delivery issues.
• Provide technical input into constructability, installation and commissioning considerations.
• Take ownership of major telecoms packages and technical workstreams.
• Support technical decision-making throughout design and construction.
• Review technical submissions and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Engage directly with senior client and project stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership to consultants, contractors and project teams.
• Help ensure telecoms solutions are technically robust, coordinated and deliverable.

About You - Telecoms Technical Lead 

• Strong telecoms, communications or ICT engineering background.
• Significant experience working on Data Centres, hyperscale, colocation, mission-critical or similarly complex environments.
• Strong technical understanding of telecoms infrastructure and Data Centre requirements.
• Experience reviewing and challenging technical designs and submissions.
• Experience leading telecoms packages, technical workstreams, consultants or specialist contractors.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience.
• Experience working with vendors, specialist contractors and delivery teams.
• Understanding of construction, installation and commissioning considerations.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Comfortable engaging with senior clients and project stakeholders.
• Experience working on large-scale, technically complex projects.

Key Success Factors - Telecoms Technical Lead

The ideal candidate will be more than a telecoms design specialist. You will have taken ownership of technical packages, interfaces and delivery outcomes and be comfortable acting as the technical authority within a wider project team.

You should understand how telecoms infrastructure interacts with the wider Data Centre environment and be able to coordinate multiple stakeholders to achieve technically sound and practical solutions.

Experience across hyperscale or colocation Data Centres would be particularly relevant, especially where you have worked through design coordination and into construction or commissioning.
