Assistant Design Manager – Tier 1 Main Contractor

We are currently working with a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor to recruit an Assistant Design Manager to join their growing team in the East Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious design professional looking to take the next step in their career and gain exposure to the delivery of major, high-value construction projects within a well-established main contractor.

You will work closely with an experienced Design Manager and wider project team, supporting the coordination and management of design from pre-construction through to delivery.

The Role

As an Assistant Design Manager, you will be involved in the day-to-day management and coordination of the design process, working closely with consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Design Manager in the coordination and management of design information.
• Managing and tracking design deliverables to ensure information is issued in line with the project programme.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Coordinating design information between consultants, subcontractors and the construction team.
• Attending and contributing to design and technical meetings.
• Assisting with the management of RFIs, technical queries and design changes.
• Supporting the review and coordination of subcontractor design and technical submissions.
• Identifying potential design issues and helping to develop practical solutions.
• Working closely with commercial and construction teams to ensure designs are coordinated, buildable and commercially viable.
• Maintaining design trackers, drawing registers and other project documentation.
• Ensuring design information meets project, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting the Design Manager throughout the project lifecycle.
