This role supports a major project environment, working closely with project management, construction, technical, commercial, design and subcontractor teams to ensure effective planning and project delivery.
2. About the Role
The Planning Lead will provide planning, scheduling and project performance support to the project management team.
The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed programmes, monitoring construction progress, managing programme changes and supporting the project team with planning and reporting requirements.
You will work closely with construction and technical teams, including supporting temporary works planning, subcontractor programmes, compensation events and interface management.
3. The key responsibilities for this Planning Lead role are:
- Prepare detailed resource-loaded programmes
- Develop visual planning material and undertake programme risk analysis
- Define construction methods and establish planned outputs
- Coordinate temporary works design activities and programme requirements
- Develop schedules for temporary works and indirect cost items
- Introduce programme changes and monitor progress
- Programme compensation events and project interfaces
- Produce internal and external programmes throughout the project
- Review construction progress and update project programmes
- Identify programme concerns and support mitigation planning
- Evaluate scope changes and additional work orders
- Coordinate with the Commercial Team on cost and contractual implications
- Support subcontractor programming and incorporate subcontractor data
- Ensure project planning techniques and procedures are followed
- Support the project team in achieving completion targets
4. Experience required for this Planning Lead role are:
- HNC in a construction-related discipline or extensive civil engineering contracting experience
- Experience working on tunnelling and ground engineering projects
- Experience using a range of planning techniques across tendering and project delivery
- Understanding of commercial and contractual interfaces with the planning function
- Competent use of industry planning software
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project
- Experience producing and maintaining detailed project programmes
