1:1 SEN Support Assistant
South Shields | Full-time | Monday–Friday | Immediate Start
A specialist SEN school in South Shields is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Support Assistant to work closely with a Reception-aged pupil who requires additional support throughout the school day.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, with hours of 8:30am–3:30pm on a supply basis. There is potential for the position to become permanent, with permanent hours changing to 8:00am–4:00pm.
The main focus of this role will be building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil and providing consistent support to help him feel safe, settled and engaged within the school environment.
The pupil can present with challenging behaviour and may display self-injurious behaviours, so the successful candidate will need to be calm, patient and compassionate. Experience supporting children with SEN, behavioural needs or complex needs would be beneficial.
The school is keen to meet suitable candidates quickly, with the pupil due to start on Monday. They are currently reviewing profiles and would ideally like to arrange a trial day on Monday.
If you're looking for a rewarding SEN role where you can make a genuine difference to a child's day-to-day experience, we'd love to hear from you.
