Early Years SEN Support Worker – 1:1
South Shields | Full-time | Immediate Start

An opportunity has become available for a patient and nurturing SEN Support Worker to join a specialist school in South Shields, providing 1:1 support to a young child in Reception.

The position is available Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with the potential to move into a permanent contract for the right person. Permanent hours would be 8:00am–4:00pm.

This is a particularly relationship-led role. The child is new to the setting and will benefit from having a consistent adult who can help him become comfortable with his new environment, establish routines and develop a sense of trust.

He can present with challenging behaviours and may hurt himself when distressed, meaning the successful candidate will need to approach situations with empathy, patience and understanding.

You don't necessarily need to have worked in exactly the same role before. The school is particularly interested in people who are warm, emotionally aware and committed to understanding the individual needs of the child.

The school is currently reviewing applications and arranging trials, with the child due to start on Monday. Ideally, they would like to meet suitable candidates for a trial on Monday.

If you are looking for a meaningful role supporting a young child with additional needs, this could be a great opportunity.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
