Join the Team at CAMEO Day Centres: Where Every Meal Makes a Difference!

Are you a culinary wizard who loves the challenge of "Ready, Steady, Cook"? Do you believe that a great meal can be the highlight of someone’s day?

CAMEO Day Centres is looking for a creative, organised, and big-hearted Cook to lead our kitchen. This isn't just about feeding people; it’s about bringing joy, nutrition, and a sense of home to our members living with dementia.

Details: Hourly rate: £14.88, Monday-Wednesday, 9:30am to 1:30pm per day.

The Role: Creative, Impactful, and Rewarding

As our lead Cook, you’ll be the heart of our centre. You won’t just follow a static menu, you’ll use your expertise to turn fresh deliveries and available ingredients into delicious, balanced two-course lunches for 20 to 30 people.

Working alongside a friendly team of volunteers, you’ll turn the kitchen into a hub of activity and care.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Creative Cooking: Designing daily recipes on the fly based on available stock, keeping meals exciting, fresh, and waste-free.

• Kitchen Leadership: Managing food deliveries, ensuring hygiene, cleanliness and safe food storage practises are followed.

• Safety First: Using your Level 3 Food Hygiene knowledge to maintain impeccable HACCP records and safety standards.

• Volunteer support: Guiding and inspiring our wonderful volunteers as they support you with prep and service.

• Dementia-Friendly Dining: Understand specific needs of clients and design meals to ensure they are suitable and enjoyed.

Who You Are:

• A Food Safety Pro: You hold a Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate and take pride in a spotless, compliant kitchen.

• The "Ingredient Whisperer": You can look at a delivery of seasonal produce and instantly see a fantastic two-course meal.

• A People Person: You’re patient, kind, and enjoy the company of older adults and volunteers.

• An Efficient Planner: You’re comfortable cooking for a group and hitting lunch times with a smile.

Why CAMEO?

At CAMEO, we provide a supportive and lively environment. You’ll have the autonomy to run your kitchen while knowing your work directly improves the quality of life for our members. No late-night shifts, just meaningful work that fits your life. Weekdays with hours that would be perfect for people who need their early mornings and later afternoon/evenings free!
