Pay: £98–£120 per day, depending on experience

Protocol Education are currently recruiting for 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to work within schools across Sunderland.

These roles could involve supporting pupils in either primary or secondary settings, depending on the school and individual pupil.

You'll become an important part of a pupil's school day, providing consistent support and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

You could be supporting pupils with:

• Autism
• ADHD
• SEMH
• Learning difficulties
• Communication needs
• Behavioural needs
• Complex SEND

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support
• Helping pupils access lessons
• Supporting learning activities
• Reinforcing instructions
• Breaking tasks down into manageable steps
• Supporting communication
• Encouraging positive behaviour
• Helping pupils regulate their emotions
• Supporting social interaction
• Encouraging independence
• Supporting transitions
• Building confidence and self-esteem
• Working alongside the class or subject teacher

Previous 1:1 or SEND experience is desirable, but we're also interested in candidates with transferable experience from care, childcare, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or support work.

The successful candidate will need to be patient, reliable and able to build a strong professional relationship with their pupil.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
