Protocol Education is working alongside a welcoming and well-established primary school in Sunderland to recruit an experienced Assistant Cook. Located within a popular residential area, the school serves a thriving local community and benefits from excellent transport links from Sunderland, Seaham, Washington, Houghton-le-Spring and South Tyneside.

As part of a friendly and supportive staff team, you will play an important role in ensuring pupils have access to healthy, nutritious and enjoyable meals each day.

The Role

Working closely with the Cook in Charge, you will support the preparation, cooking and service of meals whilst maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, safety and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and producing healthy meals in line with nutritional guidelines
• Assisting with food preparation and cooking activities
• Serving meals to pupils and staff
• Maintaining excellent kitchen hygiene standards
• Following COSHH and HACCP procedures
• Supporting stock control and kitchen administration
• Setting up and clearing dining areas
• Assisting with menu planning and food presentation
• Deputising for the Cook in Charge when required

We're Looking For

• Previous catering or kitchen experience
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures
• Food Hygiene qualification, or willingness to obtain one
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A positive and proactive attitude
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• A passion for supporting children's wellbeing
