Protocol Education is working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Sunderland seeking a motivated English Graduate to join their support team as an English Intervention Learning Support Assistant. This is a long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

As an English Intervention LSA, you will work closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting their literacy development and helping them build confidence in English. You will deliver targeted interventions, provide one-to-one and small-group support, and work alongside teaching staff to identify and address learning gaps.

Responsibilities

• Deliver English and literacy interventions to individuals and small groups
• Support students who require additional help with reading, writing and comprehension
• Assist teachers in preparing resources and adapting learning materials
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
• Encourage student engagement, confidence and attainment within English lessons
• Support pupils preparing for GCSE examinations

The Ideal Candidate

• Degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing or a related subject
• Passion for supporting young people in education
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive, patient and proactive approach
• Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential
• Aspiring teachers are encouraged to apply
