

Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)

We're working with specialist schools and mainstream settings across Sunderland looking to recruit graduates with degrees in English, Criminology or related subjects to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is the perfect opportunity for graduates considering careers in Teaching, Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Youth Justice, Social Work or Mental Health.
Role Details
- Full-time
- September 2026 start
- Monday-Friday
- 8:30am-3:30pm or 8:30am-4:30pm
- Term-time only
- Long-term position with permanent opportunities
What you'll do
- Provide 1:1 and small group support
- Support pupils with Autism, SEMH and ADHD
- Deliver targeted interventions
- Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
- Build positive relationships with pupils
- Help pupils achieve their academic and personal goals
Requirements
- Degree in English, Criminology or a related subject
- Enthusiastic and proactive attitude
- Strong communication skills
- Passion for supporting children and young people
- Experience with children is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
