Protocol Education are looking for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Sunderland.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with younger pupils and wants to provide additional support to children with SEND.

The Role

Working alongside the class teacher, you will provide targeted support to pupils throughout the school day.

You will:

• Support pupils with additional needs
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support
• Help children access the curriculum
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs
• Support communication and social development
• Encourage positive behaviour
• Develop pupils' confidence and independence
• Support classroom routines and activities
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff

There may also be opportunities to support children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and other additional needs.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

• Warm, patient and approachable
• Confident working with primary-aged children
• Experienced supporting SEND or keen to develop their SEND experience
• Reliable and adaptable
• Able to work effectively alongside teachers
• Passionate about helping children progress

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Support Worker or Youth Worker would be considered.

• Experience working with children
• SEND experience desirable
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one
