Protocol Education are currently recruiting for an SEN Teacher on behalf of a highly regarded specialist school in Houghton-le-Spring. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to join a dedicated team committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

The school supports learners with a variety of SEND requirements including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and associated communication and interaction needs. Through a nurturing and child-centred approach, the school creates an environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience and independence.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a broad and engaging curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of learners. Working alongside experienced teaching assistants and specialist professionals, you will help create meaningful learning experiences that support both academic progress and personal development.

We are seeking a teacher who is committed to inclusive education and who understands the importance of adapting their practice to ensure all pupils can access learning successfully.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Be skilled in planning and delivering differentiated lessons
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management
  • Have a good understanding of Autism and additional learning needs
  • Be able to lead and motivate classroom support staff
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be passionate about helping pupils achieve their individual goals
