Protocol Education are recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Specialist SEND Teacher to work within a specialist school in Sunderland.

This is an opportunity to work with pupils who require a highly personalised approach to education and to create learning experiences that recognise their individual strengths, interests and needs.

Rather than expecting every pupil to learn in the same way, you'll have the opportunity to develop creative and flexible approaches that allow pupils to make meaningful progress.

The role will involve:

  • Planning and delivering personalised lessons
  • Creating engaging learning opportunities
  • Differentiating and adapting the curriculum
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND
  • Setting individual learning targets
  • Assessing and recording progress
  • Supporting EHCP outcomes
  • Developing communication and independence
  • Encouraging social and emotional development
  • Promoting positive behaviour
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants
  • Collaborating with therapists and other professionals where appropriate
  • Communicating effectively with families and carers
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom

The setting may support pupils with complex learning needs, autism, communication difficulties, SEMH and other additional needs.

Previous specialist teaching experience would be advantageous, but we're also interested in hearing from mainstream teachers who are passionate about developing their SEND practice.

You will ideally have:

  • QTS or an appropriate teaching qualification
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent differentiation skills
  • A patient and flexible approach
  • Experience working with pupils with additional needs
  • Strong communication skills
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • Competitive pay rates
  • Weekly PAYE payments
  • FREE CPD and online training
  • Specialist SEND training
  • Dedicated education consultant
  • Long-term and permanent opportunities

We're particularly keen to hear from teachers who are available now or will be available shortly and are looking for a full-time opportunity in Sunderland.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
