Protocol Education are looking for Trainee Behaviour Teaching Assistants to work within schools across Sunderland.

This role could be particularly suited to people from youth work, sports, care, mentoring or support backgrounds who want to move into education.

The Role

You'll work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to support pupils who may need additional help with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.

You may:

• Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups
• Build positive relationships
• Encourage pupils to engage with learning
• Support emotional regulation
• Reinforce positive behaviour strategies
• Help establish clear routines and boundaries
• Encourage communication and independence
• Support pupils during lessons and activities
• Work as part of a wider pastoral team

Experience That Could Transfer

You don't need to have worked in a school before.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

• Youth work
• Sports coaching
• Mentoring
• Care
• Support work
• Residential settings
• Community work
• Children's services

The most important qualities are patience, resilience, consistency and a genuine interest in helping young people.

Driving Advantageous

A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous for accessing schools across Sunderland and surrounding areas, but is not essential.
