Field Service Engineer- Industrial Vacuum & Atmosphere Furnaces (310dm) – Birmingham - Sutton Coldfield - With National and International Travel- £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

If you're an experienced engineer looking for a better work-life balance, something different from the usual maintenance routine and the chance to work both nationally and internationally, this could be an excellent next step.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

Location: Candidates need to be within 25 miles of Sutton Coldfield – UK & Ireland Field-Based Role
Working Week: 4 Days – Alternating Monday–Thursday / Tuesday–Friday

International Travel: Opportunities across Europe, USA, Asia & Middle East

Looking for an engineering role that offers something a little different?
How about a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, excellent benefits and the opportunity to travel internationally?
We are recruiting for a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join an established specialist engineering business operating within the vacuum and atmosphere furnace industry.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys hands-on work, solving technical challenges and getting out on the road rather than being based at the same site every day.

LOCATION – IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT
Candidates must be based within approximately 25 miles of Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
Although this is predominantly a field-based position covering the UK and Ireland, proximity to Sutton Coldfield is an essential requirement.

A significant part of the initial training and development programme will take place at the company's Sutton Coldfield offices rather than on customer sites.
Applicants must therefore live within a 25-mile radius of Sutton Coldfield to be considered for the position.
Once trained, the role will involve regular travel to customer sites across the UK and Ireland, with occasional opportunities to work internationally.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES
The role is primarily field-based, supporting industrial customers throughout the UK and Ireland.

However, there will also be opportunities to travel overseas, with potential assignments across:
•Europe
•USA
•Asia
•Middle East

Whether you're looking to broaden your engineering experience, work in different environments or enjoy the opportunity to see more of the world, this position offers genuine variety.
International assignments will be occasional, with the majority of work taking place across the UK and Ireland.

THE ROLE
•As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting specialist industrial vacuum and atmosphere furnace systems.
•You'll work independently and alongside other engineers, providing technical support and ensuring customers' equipment continues to operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
•Servicing, maintaining and repairing industrial vacuum and atmosphere furnaces.
•Carrying out vacuum testing and temperature calibration.
•Diagnosing mechanical faults and resolving breakdowns.
•Installing replacement parts, components and assemblies.
•Undertaking planned preventative maintenance.
•Identifying faults and providing practical engineering solutions.
•Completing service documentation and technical reports.
•Providing a professional service to customers across the UK and internationally.

Note: This position involves regular travel and overnight stays.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a practical, hands-on engineer with strong mechanical knowledge and a positive, problem-solving attitude.

The Ideal Candidate
•Must live within 25 miles of Sutton Coldfield due to office-based training requirements.
•Experience in mechanical maintenance, field service or multi-skilled engineering.
•Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
•A good understanding of industrial machinery and equipment.
•Confidence working independently on customer sites.
•A flexible approach to UK and international travel, including overnight stays.
•Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
•A full UK driving licence.

Previous experience with vacuum or atmosphere furnaces would be an advantage, but is NOT essential.
We're equally interested in experienced maintenance engineers who want to move into a more specialised field service role.
Full specialist training will be provided, with a substantial part of the training programme delivered at the company's Sutton Coldfield base.

The right engineering background, practical ability and willingness to learn are what really matter.

SALARY & BENEFITS
•4-DAY WORKING WEEK – Enjoy a permanent four-day working pattern, alternating Monday–Thursday and Tuesday–Friday.
•INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES – The chance to work on engineering projects across Europe, the USA, Asia and the Middle East.
•£35,000 – £40,000 BASIC SALARY – Competitive salary depending on experience.
•3 DAYS' ANNUAL LEAVE – Including statutory holidays.

PLUS:
•Company van
•Company mobile phone and laptop
•Company credit card
•Overnight allowances
•Company pension
•Comprehensive specialist training
•All tools and equipment provided
•Varied and interesting engineering work
•Long-term career opportunity within a specialist engineering sector
