Trainee Internal Sales & Account Management (311dm) - Birmingham- Sutton Coldfield - £21,000–£30,000 per annum DOE - 4 DAY WEEK

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and organised individual to join our client's growing sales team within an established, family-owned engineering business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is eager to learn, gain valuable experience and grow with the business over the long term.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

We are equally interested in hearing from candidates who already have relevant sales, customer service or engineering experience and are looking for their next opportunity.
The position combines internal sales, customer support, purchasing, order processing and hands-on involvement in the day-to-day operations of the business.

You'll receive direct training and support from an experienced sales colleague, gradually developing the knowledge and confidence to manage customer enquiries, prepare quotations, process orders and build strong customer relationships.
This is not simply a desk-based administration role. The client’s long-term goal is to develop the right person into a confident sales professional who can manage their own customer accounts, arrange customer visits and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS
They are part of an established group of family-owned engineering businesses specialising in the supply, servicing, maintenance and refurbishment of industrial vacuum pumps and vacuum furnaces.
They work with customers across the UK and internationally, providing spare parts, technical support and engineering services.
You'll initially focus on the vacuum pump side of the business before gradually expanding your responsibilities to include furnace spare parts, service contract quotations and stock management across another business within the group.
This provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience across different areas of a specialised engineering industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Customer Support
•Responding to customer enquiries by telephone and email.
•Preparing and following up quotations for spare parts, equipment and services.
•Managing customer enquiries from initial contact through to invoicing.
•Building and maintaining positive customer relationships.
•Keeping customers updated on orders, lead times and deliveries.
•Identifying opportunities to develop existing customer accounts.

Purchasing & Order Processing
•Raising purchase orders and sourcing spare parts from suppliers.
•Obtaining supplier prices, availability and delivery information.
•Processing customer orders and issuing order confirmations.
•Booking goods in and out of stock.
•Assisting with picking, packing and dispatching customer orders.
•Preparing invoices and maintaining accurate sales records.

Engineering & Service Coordination
•Helping arrange engineer visits and customer service requirements.
•Preparing service quotations and supporting documentation.
•Maintaining accurate customer equipment and service records.
•Supporting spare parts and service contract quotations.
•Learning and assisting with stock management systems across the wider business.

Customer Visits & Account Development
As your experience and confidence grow, you'll have opportunities to accompany experienced colleagues on customer visits.
Over time, this will develop into helping organise customer meetings, building relationships, managing your own accounts and eventually planning your own customer visits.
Our long-term aim is to develop someone who can take ownership of customer relationships and contribute directly to sales growth.

The client is not necessarily looking for someone with years of experience.
They are looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and the ambition to develop a long-term career with us.

The ideal candidate will be:
•Motivated and enthusiastic – keen to learn new skills and take on responsibility.
•Organised and reliable – able to manage tasks and follow them through to completion.
•A confident communicator – comfortable speaking with customers and suppliers.
•Proactive – willing to use their initiative and help keep things moving.
•Detail-oriented – understands the importance of accuracy in quotations, orders and paperwork.
•Commercially minded – interested in sales, customer relationships and business development.
•A team player – happy to get involved in different aspects of the business.
•Good computer skills and a professional telephone manner would be beneficial.
•Previous experience in sales, customer service, purchasing, administration or an engineering environment would be an advantage, but is not essential.
•Full training will be provided for candidates without previous industry experience.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
They recognise that our industry is specialised and don't expect you to arrive with all the technical knowledge.
You'll work closely with an experienced member of our sales team, gradually taking on more responsibility as you learn.

Month 1 – Learning the Business
Understanding our products, customers and internal systems, while assisting with customer enquiries, quotations, order processing and general sales support. You'll also begin accompanying colleagues on customer visits.

Month 2 – Building Confidence
Beginning to handle smaller quotations and orders independently, liaising with suppliers, managing delivery updates and learning the furnace spare parts and stock management side of the wider business.

Month 3 – Taking Responsibility
Managing more of your own customer enquiries, preparing quotations, processing orders, helping coordinate service visits and becoming increasingly involved in customer account development.
At the end of your first three months, we'll review your progress, discuss your strengths and agree on the next stage of your development.

LONG-TERM CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Our client sees this position as a long-term opportunity rather than simply a job to fill.
They want to invest time in developing someone who can grow in confidence, knowledge and responsibility as the business develops.

Depending on your skills and interests, the role could progress into:
•Internal sales and customer account management.
•External sales and customer visits.
•Business development.
•Technical sales within the engineering industry.
•Greater commercial responsibility across the wider business.

For someone with the right attitude and ambition, there is genuine potential to build a rewarding long-term career.

SALARY & WORKING HOURS
•Salary: £21,000–£30,000 per annum
•Starting salary will depend on experience, existing skills and suitability for the position.

•Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:30pm.
•Fridays are worked on a rota with the wider team. - When you work a Friday, you'll receive the following Monday off.
Independent Friday cover will only be expected once you're fully trained and confident in the role.

Location:
Sutton Coldfield

WHY join them?
•Competitive salary of £21,000–£30,000 depending on experience.
•Full training and ongoing support.
•Opportunity to build a long-term career in sales.
•Exposure to a specialised and established engineering industry.
•A varied role with real responsibility.
•Opportunities to develop customer relationships and attend site visits.
•A supportive, family-owned business environment.
•Four-day working pattern with a rotating Friday arrangement.
•Salary review after the first three months.
•Genuine opportunities for career progression.

If you're enthusiastic, organised, enjoy working with people and want an opportunity to develop your skills within a growing engineering business, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you're looking for your first opportunity in sales or already have relevant experience, we're interested in finding someone with the right attitude and long-term potential.
