1. About the Company
The company operates within the civil engineering and infrastructure sector, delivering major construction and infrastructure projects.
The role sits within the technical services function, working alongside design engineers, design managers, engineering teams, BIM representatives and design partners.
2. About the Role
The CAD Technician will be responsible for producing and amending 2D drawings and graphical information in line with project and client standards.
The role will also support BIM and information management activities, including 3D models, clash detection, 4D schedules and quantity take-offs. You will work closely with the wider design team to ensure drawings and models are accurate, coordinated and delivered in accordance with project requirements.
3. The key responsibilities for this CAD Technician role are:
- Produce and amend 2D drawings and graphical information
- Manage drawings and issue electronic and hard-copy documentation
- Manage design information through the project Common Data Environment
- Support the project team with BIM and information model outputs
- Prepare drawings and models to demonstrate design and construction proposals
- Support the delivery of BIM and 2D execution plans
- Maintain accurate drawing and information file attributes
- Produce information in accordance with project plans
- Coordinate graphical models and identify potential clashes
- Escalate design and interface issues to the Design Manager or BIM Coordinator
- Submit information for approval in accordance with project requirements
- Support BIM coordination activities when required
- Consider health, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements within drawings and models
- Ensure drawings and models meet required quality standards
4. Experience required for this CAD Technician role are:
- Experience producing 2D and 3D CAD information
- Experience working within construction or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of infrastructure design processes
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Knowledge of CAD and BIM standards
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant industry, client and internal standards
- Understanding of BS, PAS and ISO processes
- Understanding of health, safety and welfare considerations when preparing drawings and models
5. Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this CAD Technician role are:
- Experience using Revit
- Experience working with BIM
- Knowledge of Bentley systems
- Experience with 4D software
- Experience supporting BIM coordination
- Experience working with Common Data Environments
