Protocol Education are working with a Swindon based Secondary School to appoint an English Teacher on a Maternity Cover placement. This is to start from January 2027, or sooner for the right Teacher

The English Department
The English department is highly successful because they are passionate about the subject, and engaging students throughout all Key Stages. They aim that they should enjoy their lessons and gain an ever better understanding of the world of literature and richness of the English language and so achieve great results at both GCSE and A level. This is in part achieved with a comprehensively planned and resourced curriculum which exposes them to a wide range of texts. It is further supported through building positive relationships with students and building emphasis on students taking responsibility for the level of their own success. The English Department are a reflective and supportive team and look forward to welcoming a new member of staff who can be an active part of a department we’re proud of.

What the roles involves
You’ll be delivering engaging English lessons that build confidence, curiosity, and real understanding in the classroom. Depending on the role, this could include full teaching responsibilities such as planning, marking, and assessments, or more flexible cover opportunities where you can focus purely on teaching.
There’s plenty of variety too, from high-performing secondary schools to specialist SEN settings where smaller wins make a huge difference.
