Looking for a role where you can make a real difference, every single day?

We're working with a welcoming secondary school near Telford that's looking for a confident and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEN unit. This is the kind of role where no two days look the same, but the impact you make is always clear.

You'll be supporting young people with additional needs, helping them build confidence, overcome barriers, and feel ready to take on the school day. Whether it's celebrating a small win, helping a pupil regulate their emotions, or being the calm, consistent presence they rely on, your support will genuinely matter.

The school has a strong pastoral ethos, a supportive leadership team, and a real commitment to helping every student thrive, both in and beyond the classroom.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting students within the SEN unit on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Helping pupils build confidence, manage emotions, and engage with learning
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Delivering targeted interventions and adapting support to meet individual needs
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and a love of learning

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • A calm, patient, and flexible approach
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence supporting a range of additional needs
  • Someone who genuinely enjoys helping young people succeed

Extra brownie points if you:

  • Are Thrive trained, or happy to complete our FREE Thrive training
  • Have experience supporting students with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour
  • Have worked in secondary schools, specialist settings, or alternative provision

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies and no hidden deductions
  • FREE access to our CPD Academy, including SEND, behaviour, and Thrive training
  • Ongoing support from a friendly, dedicated consultant who gets to know you
  • Opportunities in schools that truly value support staff
  • Local roles matched to your experience, personality, and career goals
