About the Company

Our client is a growing engineering contractor delivering specialist solutions across the UK utilities sector. Operating across high voltage power, gas, telecoms, water and EV infrastructure, they provide full lifecycle delivery from design and tendering through to project delivery and commissioning.

With continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are expanding their Special Projects team to support the delivery of complex and high-value infrastructure schemes.

About the Role

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of a portfolio of high voltage and utility infrastructure projects, including grid connections, customer HV networks and substation works.

This role will involve managing projects from concept through to completion, taking ownership of safety, programme, commercial performance and technical delivery. You will also support wider business functions including tendering, design development and project strategy where required.

The position offers a high level of autonomy and would suit someone comfortable managing multiple projects, leading teams and working closely with clients across the UK.

The key responsibilities for this Senior Project Manager role are:

• Lead the delivery of multiple HV and utility infrastructure projects from inception to completion
• Manage project performance across safety, quality, programme, cost and risk
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and delivery strategies
• Manage project budgets, forecasts and commercial performance
• Identify and manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams
• Manage client relationships and act as the key point of contact
• Oversee change control processes including pricing and approvals
• Maintain project documentation in line with company standards
• Support tendering, design development and project planning activities

Experience required for this Senior Project Manager role are:

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager within utilities or infrastructure projects
• Strong experience delivering high voltage or MEICA projects
• Experience managing complex projects valued at £5M+
• Strong leadership experience managing teams and project resources
• Experience managing project budgets, risk and commercial performance
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and project delivery processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior Project Manager role are:

• Experience delivering HV customer networks or grid connection projects
• Experience across multi-utility environments including power, water or telecoms
• Project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent
• Understanding of control, protection and automation systems
• Experience using project planning software such as Microsoft Project
