Salary:

Up to £42,000 + company car or car allowance, 10% bonus, pension, life assurance and generous holiday allowance

The Assistant Engineer Role:

A well-established regional housebuilder is looking to appoint an Assistant Engineer to join its West Midlands Technical team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in housebuilding, civil engineering or the wider construction industry who is looking to develop their career within a busy and supportive technical environment.

You will support the wider Technical team across the acquisition, planning, design, management and adoption of residential developments. The role will offer exposure to a variety of engineering responsibilities, including utilities, roads, drainage, technical approvals and site infrastructure.

Working closely with internal departments, external consultants, utility providers and local authorities, you will play an important role in ensuring projects progress from early-stage feasibility through to delivery and final adoption.

This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive and keen to build on their engineering experience within a respected regional developer offering strong long-term progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Engineer:

• Support the Technical team with engineering input during land acquisition and early-stage development assessments
• Liaise with utility providers regarding new supplies, diversions and service requirements for new developments
• Assist with the coordination of highways, drainage and infrastructure approvals with relevant authorities
• Support the review and coordination of engineering designs prepared by external consultants
• Assist with estate road, sewer, foundation and infrastructure design information
• Help obtain utility quotations for new developments and liaise with the Commercial team when placing orders
• Coordinate with Technical Coordinators and other internal teams to assist with the discharge of planning and Building Regulation conditions
• Support the management of roads, sewers and utilities through to adoption
• Attend site visits, design meetings and technical meetings where required
• Provide engineering support to the wider Technical, Commercial and Construction teams throughout the development lifecycle

Requirements for the Assistant Engineer role:

• Relevant engineering or construction qualification, or currently working towards one
• Experience within housebuilding, civil engineering, consultancy or the wider construction industry
• Understanding of residential infrastructure, including roads, drainage and utilities
• Ability to plan, organise and manage competing priorities
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Positive, proactive attitude with a desire to develop and progress within the business
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and residential engineering processes would be advantageous
