A welcoming primary school in Yate is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The role

You will:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Help the child access learning activities and classroom routines
  • Support emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Build a trusting and encouraging relationship that helps the pupil thrive

What we're looking for

Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 role, is preferred.

Formal qualifications are not essential, but applicants should have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
  • A calm, patient, and caring approach
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team

Experience in schools, youth work, care settings, or similar support roles would be advantageous.

Compliance requirements

All successful applicants must have:

  • An enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
  • A minimum of 24 months of reference history covering employment, education, or relevant experience
  • The right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
